The Lotus Hour workshop

A Workshop Built Around the Watch, Not the Clock

Lotus Hour began from a simple observation: that most watches brought in for repair were met with haste. We wanted to offer something different.

The Lotus Hour Story

Lotus Hour was founded in Bangkok's Pathum Wan district after years spent watching the watch service industry grow faster than it grew more careful. The founder, a trained horological technician with experience in both Thailand and Switzerland, wanted to build a workshop where no watch was treated as an interchangeable unit of work.

The name came from a quiet afternoon on the terrace of a tea house near Lumpini Park, looking at the still water and the lotus flowers that seemed entirely unbothered by the traffic beyond the garden wall. That quality — calm, unhurried, fully present — became what we wanted to bring to the work.

We opened our first appointment book in the spring of 2019 and have since worked on everything from a ฿800 fashion watch with sentimental value to pieces with history reaching back sixty years. We treat both with the same attention.

Our mission is not to process watches quickly. It is to understand each one, communicate honestly with its owner, and return it in a condition that justifies the trust placed in us.

Those Who Work on Your Watch

NK

Nattapol Kasem

Lead Watchmaker

Trained in movement service and restoration. Nattapol manages most of the technical work and leads the assessment of estate pieces. He has a particular interest in mid-century mechanical watches.

SL

Siriporn Laorwong

Client Relations & Strap Fitting

Siriporn manages all client appointments and leads the strap selection consultations. She has a thorough knowledge of leather, rubber, and fabric straps, and a good eye for what suits a particular case.

WP

Wanchai Phromma

Case & Bracelet Finishing

Wanchai handles all case cleaning, bracelet work, and surface refinishing. He is methodical, patient, and understands when not to touch something — which is as important as knowing what to do.

How We Hold Ourselves Accountable

These are not marketing statements — they are the working principles that govern what happens in the workshop every day.

Written Estimates Before Work Begins

Every service is accompanied by a written summary of what will be done and the agreed cost. Nothing changes without a new conversation.

Pre- and Post-Service Inspection

We document the condition of each watch on arrival and again before it leaves. Any change that occurred during service is noted and explained.

Appropriate Parts, Not Substitute Parts

We do not fit parts that are merely compatible if they are not suitable. When a correct part is needed and unavailable, we wait rather than substitute.

Secure Watch Handling

Every watch is logged into our system the moment it enters the workshop and tracked until the moment it is returned. No piece leaves without the owner's identification confirmed.

Ongoing Technical Development

Our technicians attend training sessions and follow technical publications in the field. The work we do in 2025 draws on more current knowledge than what was available when we opened.

Honest Referrals

If a watch is better served by a brand-authorised service centre or a more specialised repairer, we say so. We would rather lose a job than do it poorly.

Watch Repair in Bangkok: What We Bring to the Craft

Bangkok is a city with a strong watch culture. From the weekend markets near the river to the display cases in the shopping centres of Ratchadamri, watches are treated seriously here — as objects of both daily use and personal significance. Lotus Hour exists within that context, serving people who want their watches maintained by someone who approaches the object with the same care the owner does.

Quartz movements, which account for the majority of watches in daily use, benefit from regular attention even when they appear to be working well. Battery acid from an exhausted cell can reach and damage the movement in the months after a battery loses power. Gasket degradation over time reduces a watch's resistance to humidity and water, which matters particularly in Bangkok's climate. A quartz service appointment addresses all of these considerations in a single visit.

Mechanical and automatic watches present a different set of needs. The oils within a movement break down over a period of years, leading to increased wear between components. A movement service — where the watch is disassembled, cleaned, lubricated with appropriate oils, and reassembled — is the standard response. The interval at which this is necessary depends on the movement and the conditions of use, and we discuss this with each owner at the time of assessment.

Estate watches, those received as gifts, through inheritance, or found in a family home, often carry meaning that goes beyond their mechanical condition. Our estate assessment appointments are structured to give that context a place in the conversation, rather than treating the watch only as a technical problem to resolve.

Come and See the Workshop

We welcome visits — with or without a watch. If you would like to understand the process before committing to an appointment, we are happy to spend a few minutes explaining it.
